abstract = "The aim of this paper is to propose and assess a hydrological
index, denominated here hydrological mobility index (MH),
potentially capable of explaining the geographical distribution of
schistosomiasis. The index was established through of the
interaction with slope data, climatic data and water accumulation
area, using data derived from remote sensing and geographic
information system, integrated at municipality level. This index
tries to reflect the fact that the rapid movement of water
displaces the snails, preventing them of fixing possible points at
rivers borders and ponds. The hydrological mobility index is used
to establish a relationship with the prevalence of schistosomiasis
in fourteen municipalities of the state of Minas Gerais, Brazil.",
