             abstract = "The available chlorophyll algorithms for chlorophyll-a estimates 
                         using ocean color have low performance in coastal waters. The aim 
                         of this work is to evaluate the performances of two global 
                         algorithms OC4V4 (for SeaWiFS sensor) and OC3 (for MODIS), for 
                         chlorophyll-a in the continental shelf off Santos Bay (SP, 
                         Brazil). In situ chlorophyll concentration and ocean reflectance 
                         in 40 stations performed in October 2005 and March 2006 were 
                         compared. Spectral reflectances were averaged to simulate the 
                         bands from the satellite sensors, allowing the assessment of 
                         empirical algorithms. As expected, both showed low performances 
                         (R2=0.42 for OC4V4 and R2= 0.37 for OC3). A multiple regression 
                         analysis using four distinct band ratios produced a better fit 
                         (Rē=0.76), suggesting a better regional algorithm (ACS) for use in 
                         these turbid waters.",
