             abstract = "The mass movements are those movements of rock, earth and debris 
                         down slope under the force of gravity. The hazard analysis and 
                         risk management begins with detection and mapping, which provides 
                         a basis for understanding their spatial and temporal occurrence. 
                         Mass movements are common in the Sierras Subandinas (Northwest of 
                         Argentina), where for the past 50 years there have been several 
                         events that resulted in loss of human lives and material damages 
                         in the communities living nearby. This study presents the first 
                         inventory map of mass movements for Tartagal river basin (Salta, 
                         Argentina) using Remote Sensing data. Identification and mapping 
                         of mass movements of the event 2009, was obtained from a 
                         supervised classification (maximum likelihood algorithm) of 10 m 
                         multi-spectral SPOT-4 imagery, acquired immediately after the 
                         event. The affected area was about 3 km2; the volume of material 
                         removed was about 2 km3 and the magnitude of the event was about 
                         6,3. Automatic classification based on the spectral signature of 
                         the pixel, with the assistance of expert knowledge, proved to be a 
                         useful method for identifying and mapping mass movements, because 
                         it allowed a quick and efficient location. The inventory map of 
                         mass movements and quantitative data will be useful for future 
                         hazard and risk assessments. They may also be used as a planning 
                         tool, and to implement mitigation strategies and risk reduction.",
