             abstract = "This paper aims at describing a study to obtain diffuse solar 
                         radiation estimates from K, Kt and Kd indexes calculated from 
                         solar radiation ground data acquired in the SONDA measurement site 
                         located in Southern Space Observatory (29,4šS; 53,8šO), in 
                         S{\~a}o Martinho da Serra. First of all, empiric models described 
                         by Collares-Pereira and Rabl (CPR) and by Ruth and Chant (RC) were 
                         employed and their performance was evaluated using mean bias error 
                         and root mean square error. Afterwards, a new empiric model, 
                         designates as SMS, was developed following a similar methodology . 
                         The model SMS showed a better performance when compared to CPR and 
                         RC models. The model SMS presented a RMSE=0,073 and MBE lower than 
                         -0,001. The other two models presented a RMSE between 0,108 and 
                         0,111, and MBE between 0,043 and 0,048.",
