             abstract = "O presente trabalho visa analisar a classifica{\c{c}}{\~a}o 
                         climatol{\'o}gica das nuvens precipitantes do Nordeste Brasileiro 
                         utilizando o radar a bordo do sat{\'e}lite Tropical Rainfall 
                         Measuring Mission (TRMM). Este sat{\'e}lite quando em 
                         {\'o}rbita, tinha como escopo medir a quantidade de chuva em 
                         regi{\~o}es tropicais. Um dos principais instrumentos a bordo 
                         deste sat{\'e}lite {\'e} um radar ativo de varredura 
                         eletr{\^o}nica que tem por objetivo etectar a estrutura 
                         tridimensional das nuvens. Sendo assim, para este estudo foi 
                         analizada uma s{\'e}rie de 15 anos de dados do sat{\'e}lite TRMM 
                         (per{\'{\i}}odo 1998-2012), com o intuito de identificar que 
                         tipos de nuvens geram a precipitac{\~a}o estimada pelo 
                         Precipitation Radar(PR) e com que frequ{\^e}ncia essas nuvens 
                         ocorrem. A partir dos resultados deste trabalho foi 
                         poss{\'{\i}}vel estimar os valores m{\'e}dios de 
                         frequ{\^e}ncia relativa cada tipo de nuvem presente nos sistemas 
                         meteorol{\'o}gicos que mais influenciam a regi{\~a}o Nordeste do 
                         Brasil. Em modo geral as nuvens estratiformes e as nuvens 
                         convectivas rasas (nuvens quentes) s{\~a}o as mais recorrentes na 
                         regi{\~a}o, por{\'e}m a precipita{\c{c}}{\~a}o associada 
                         n{\~a}o {\'e} t{\~a}o impactante como a 
                         precipita{\c{c}}{\~a}o provocada por nuvens convectivas 
                         profundas. Verifica-se tamb{\'e}m que sobre as {\'a}reas 
                         costeiras do Nordeste do Brasil e oceano adjacente h{\'a} um 
                         forte sinal de nuvens convectivas rasas que modulam a 
                         precipita{\c{c}}{\~a}o dessas {\'a}reas. Desta forma, o 
                         principal objetivo desta disserta{\c{c}}{\~a}o {\'e} contribuir 
                         para um melhor entendimento dos padr{\~o}es de tipos de nuvens 
                         associadas com a precipita{\c{c}}{\~a}o da regi{\~a}o Nordeste 
                         do Brasil, construindo uma an{\'a}lise climatol{\'o}gica a 
                         partir da classifica{\c{c}}{\~a}o dessas nuvens. ABSTRACT: This 
                         study aims to analyze the climatological classification of 
                         precipitating clouds in Northeast Brazil using radar on board the 
                         satellite Tropical Rainfall Measuring Mission (TRMM). This 
                         satellite while in orbit, had the scope to measure the amount of 
                         rainfall in tropical regions. One main instrument aboard this 
                         satellite is an active radar scanning electron which aims to 
                         detect the three-dimensional structure of clouds. Thus, for this 
                         study was analyzed a series of 15 years of TRMM satellite data 
                         (period 1998-2012), in order to identify what types of clouds 
                         produce precipitation estimated by Precipitation Radar (PR) and 
                         how often these clouds occur. From the results of this work was 
                         possible to estimate the average frequency values concerning each 
                         type of cloud present in weather systems that influence the 
                         Northeast region of Brazil. In general, the stratiform clouds and 
                         shallow convective clouds (hot clouds) are the most frequent in 
                         the region, but the associated rainfall is not as impactful as 
                         precipitation caused by deep convective clouds. Also appears that 
                         over the coastal areas of Brazil and adjacent Northeast ocean 
                         there is a strong signal of shallow convective clouds that 
                         modulate rainfall in these areas. Thus, the main objective of this 
                         dissertation is to contribute to a better understanding of the 
                         patterns of cloud types associated with precipitation of 
                         northeastern Brazil, building a climatological analysis from the 
                         classification of clouds.",
