                         streams (HSSs) emanating from solar coronal holes. We will trace 
                         the important plasma features from the Sun to the Earths 
                         magnetosphere and ionosphere. In particular we will discuss the 
                         formation of Alfv{\'e}n waves in interplanetary space, the 
                         effects of magnetic reconnection between the southward component 
                         of the Alfv{\'e}nic wave magnetic fields with the Earths 
                         magnetopause fields, the eventual acceleration of ~ MeV electrons 
                         and loss of these particles to the ionosphere and atmosphere.",
