                         objetivo deste estudo foi avaliar os algoritmos de 
                         atribui{\c{c}}{\~a}o de altura operacional para AMVs utilizados 
                         no Centro de Previs{\~a}o do Tempo e Estudos Clim{\'a}ticos 
                         (CPTEC) para o Geostationary Operational Environmental Satellite 
                         vers{\~a}o 16 (GOES-16), que est{\'a} operacional em 75,2 Oeste 
                         desde dezembro de 2017. A deriva{\c{c}}{\~a}o dos produtos 
                         GOES-16 pelo CPTEC fornece sua implementa{\c{c}}{\~a}o e 
                         adapta{\c{c}}{\~a}o mais r{\'a}pidas para 
                         aplica{\c{c}}{\~o}es na Am{\'e}rica do Sul. A 
                         compara{\c{c}}{\~a}o direta entre os AMVs do CPTEC com os AMVs 
                         da National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), 
                         rean{\'a}lises e radiossondas, para nuvens opacas e para nuvens 
                         semitransparentes em diferentes regi{\~o}es da Am{\'e}rica do 
                         Sul evidencia a consist{\^e}ncia e coer{\^e}ncia dos produtos 
                         gerados pelo CPTEC. ABSTRACT: Satellite estimation of cloud top 
                         height is an essential auxiliary variable for the derivation of 
                         satellite winds, commonly known as Atmospheric Motion Vectors 
                         (AMVs), which are later assimilated into numerical weather models 
                         to provide a diagnosis of the atmosphere. An important driver of 
                         AMVs uncertainty is their height, estimated by different 
                         algorithms according to the capabilities of each satellite. The 
                         objective of this study was to evaluate the AMVs height assignment 
                         algorithms used operationally in the Weather Forecast and Climate 
                         Studies Center (CPTEC) for the 16th version of the Geostationary 
                         Operational Environmental Satellite (GOES-16), which is 
                         operational in 75.2 West since December 2017. The derivation of 
                         GOES-16 products by CPTEC provides their faster implementation and 
                         adaptation for applications in South America. The direct 
                         comparison between CPTEC AMVs and AMVs from National Oceanic and 
                         Atmospheric Administration NOAA, reanalyses and radiosondes, for 
                         opaque clouds and for semitransparent clouds in different regions 
                         of South America, shows the consistency and coherence of the 
                         products generated by CPTEC.",
