                         expans{\~a}o agr{\'{\i}}cola. Neste contexto, destaca-se o 
                         Cerrado do Maranh{\~a}o, que perdeu 17% das {\'a}reas naturais 
                         entre 2002 e 2013. Desta forma, este trabalho tem como objetivo 
                         analisar e caracterizar a ocorr{\^e}ncia das queimadas e da 
                         precipita{\c{c}}{\~a}o no Cerrado do Maranh{\~a}o entre 2002 e 
                         2015 a partir de dados dos sensores MODIS e do sat{\'e}lite TRMM. 
                         Os resultados mostram que 362.066 focos de calor foram detectados 
                         na {\'a}rea de estudo e 131.571 km2 queimados, sendo 72% das 
                         ocorr{\^e}ncias em {\'a}reas naturais e durante a 
                         esta{\c{c}}{\~a}o seca. As correla{\c{c}}{\~o}es entre as 
                         vari{\'a}veis analisadas foram significativas de acordo com teste 
                         t-Student a 5%. ABSTRACT: In the Cerrado biome, wildfires are 
                         correlated with the hydrological cycle. However, during the last 
                         decades anthropic fires are increasing, mostly related to the 
                         agricultural expansion. In this context, the Cerrado biome 
                         inserted in the Maranh{\~a}o State must be highlighted, once it 
                         lost 17% of the natural areas between 2002 and 2013. Consequently, 
                         this work aims to analyze and characterize the occurrence of fires 
                         and precipitation in the Cerrado of Maranh{\~a}o between 2002 and 
                         2015 using remote sensing data from MODIS sensor and TRMM 
                         satellite. Results show that 362.066 hotspots were detected in the 
                         study area and 131.571 km2 were burned, with 72% of the 
                         occurrences in natural areas during the dry season. Correlations 
                         between the variables analyzed were significant according to the 
                         t-Student test with significance level of 5%.",
