ResumoToday, with the increased use of products that use computer programs to run some of its functionalities, it is essential to the development of software quality, especially software that can endanger the lives of human beings, as it is the case of embedded software components. The study and use of Software Engineering with its disciplined activities and principles to guide developers of such products to the process used for its development has been growing. For this purpose, the 'Cyclic process' was drawn up to develop embedded components [8], a process that seeks to ensure the functioning of product with these characteristics, following an approach of using software engineering processes in its development, using defined procedures identifying and assisting in developing embedded components, thus that errors can be eliminated or minimized through the use of software engineering activities. The 'Process Loop', has been prepared following the guidelines of the CMMI-DEV Level 2 and standards of Space Product Assurance / Software Product Assurance - ECSS-Q-80 and Space Software Engineering - ECSS-E-ST-40 ECSS standard ESA - European Space Agency. In several accidents it is found that most of the causes were problems in embedded components, which led the study and proposal of 'Cyclic process' [8]. Due to the particularities of each embedded component and consequent peculiarity of its development, a unique process of development is unable to meet the diversity of needs of different components, so it is necessary that the process meets its features. This article presents part of the study being conducted to propose criteria and ways of adapting the 'Cyclic process' [8] so that it can be used to develop different embedded components meeting their specificities as well as maintaining its efficiency and adherence to model CMMI-DEV and the rules of ESA ECSS model.

ResumoService relocation represents a promising strategy to provide flexible and resource efficient resiliency from link failures in the optical cloud environment. However, when a failure affects a node hosting a datacenter (DC), service relocation from the affected DC is not possible. One alternative to protect against DC failures relies on using design strategies that duplicate the IT (i.e., storage and processing) resources in a backup DC at the expense of increasing resource overbuild (i.e., cost) of the network. This work proposes a dimensioning strategy based on the shared-path shared-computing (SPSC) concept able to protect against any single link, server, or DC failure scenario with minimal resource overbuild for the network and IT infrastructures. SPSC is based on the intuition that only storage units need complete replication in backup DC, while processing units can be instantiated only after the occurrence of a failure, leaving the design strategy some leeway to minimize their number. As result, the proposed SPSC design shows a considerable reduction in the amount of backup resources when compared to the dedicated protection strategies.

Resumohe use of Unmanned Aerial Vehicles has increased and become indispensable for many applications where human intervention is exhausting, dangerous or expensive. With this increase in UAV employment, autonomous navigation has been the subject of several studies. For this purpose, several systems have been used, among them, image processing, that is an alternative to the Global Positioning System. The employment of images in an autonomous navigation system has challenges, among them, the night flight. In this context, this article presents a study to estimate the UAV's geographical position with use of infrared images. From this image, a search is made in a georeferenced satellite image in the visible band. To automatically register between aerial and satellite images, edge information extracted by Artificial Neural Networks are used. The artificial neural network is automatically configured with use of Multiple Particle Collision Algorithm. Furthermore, the estimation of the UAV's position is obtained by calculating the correlation index. The results are promissing to be employed in night autonomous navigation.

ResumoImage segmentation is a traditional method in Remote Sensing and a fundamental problem in image processing applications. It has been widely used, especially with the emergence of the Geographic Object-Based Image Analysis (GEOBIA). The results of segmentation must create uniform areas, which must allow a simpler interpretation by the users and simpler representation for classification algorithms. Several algorithms were proposed through the years, using different approaches. One that is widely used in Remote Sensing applications is the Multiresolution algorithm, that is based on the region growing method. Other, which has great potential and is applied in other research areas, is available on the Image Foresting Transform (IFT) framework, which has several image operators developed primarily for medical images. The Watershed from Grayscale Marker operator uses an edge image to perform the segmentation, however, we propose an extension of the edge detection algorithm, by summing normalized gradients of each band. This work aims to evaluate and compare these two segmentation algorithms, by comparing their results through supervised segmentation from reference regions, that were defined manually by an expert user. Quality measures were evaluated by four metrics, that represent the positional adjustment based the center of gravity, intensities, size, and the amount of overlap between the segment created by the algorithms and the reference segment. We selected 21 objects of a WorldView-2 multispectral image that were used to compute the metrics. Both methods reached similar results, by comparing the aforementioned 4 metrics applied to the 21 reference regions, IFT achieved better results for majority of regions. The IFT generated segments with similar shape when compared with the references, and the multiresolution generated results with similar sizes and positional adjustments. It may be explained by the fact that IFT uses an edge image to perform the segmentation. Both algorithms obtained similar agreement for intensity.
