ResumoIn this paper, we present a new class of fuzzy associative memories (FAMs) called tunable equivalence fuzzy associative memories, for short tunable E-FAMs or TE-FAMs, that belong to the class Θ-fuzzy associative memories (Θ-FAMs). Recall that 0-FAMs represent fuzzy neural networks having a competitive hidden layer and weights that can be adjusted via a training algorithm. Like any associative memory model, Θ-FAMs depend on the specification of a fundamental memory set. In contrast to other Θ-FAM models, TE-FAMs make use of parametrized fuzzy equivalence measures that are associated with the hidden nodes and allow for the extraction of a fundamental memory set from the training data. The use of a smaller fundamental memory set than in previous articles on Θ-FAMs reduces the computational effort involved in deriving the weights without decreasing the quality of the results.

ResumoThis paper is relating to the application of Integrated Vehicle Health Management (IVHM) concepts based on Prognostics and Health Monitoring (PHM) techniques to Multi-UAV systems. Considering UAV as a mission critical system, it is expected and required to accomplish its operational objectives with minimal unscheduled interruptions. So that, it does make sense for UAV to take advantage of those techniques as enablers for the readiness of multi-UAV. The main goal of this paper is to apply information from a PHM system to support decision making through an IVHM framework. PHM system information, in this case, comprises UAV remaining useful life (RUL) estimations. UAV RUL is computed by means of a fault tree analysis that it is fed by a distribution function from a probability density function relating time and failure probability for each UAV critical components. The IVHM framework, in this case, it is the task assignment based on UAV health condition (RUL information) using the Receding Horizon Task Assignment (RHTA) algorithm. The study case was developed considering a team of electrical small UAVs and pitch control system was chosen as the critical system.

ResumoCitizen science projects are those in which volunteers are asked to collaborate in scientific projects, usually by volunteering idle computer time for distributed data processing efforts or by actively labeling or classifying information - shapes of galaxies, whale sounds, historical records are all examples of citizen science projects in which users access a data collecting system to label or classify images and sounds. In order to be successful, a citizen science project must captivate users and keep them interested on the project and on the science behind it, increasing therefore the time the users spend collaborating with the project. Understanding behavior of citizen scientists and their interaction with the data collection systems may help increase the involvement of the users, categorize them accordingly to different parameters, facilitate their collaboration with the systems, design better user interfaces, and allow better planning and deployment of similar projects and systems. Users behavior can be actively monitored or derived from their interaction with the data collection systems. Records of the interactions can be analyzed using visualization techniques to identify patterns and outliers. In this paper we present some results on the visualization of more than 80 million interactions of almost 150 thousand users with the Galaxy Zoo I citizen science project. Visualization of the attributes extracted from their behaviors was done with a clustering neural network (the Self-Organizing Map) and a selection of icon- and pixel-based techniques. These techniques allows the visual identification of groups of similar behavior in several different ways.
