AbstractO foco do presente trabalho é desenvolver ferramentas computacionais que permitam estudar os efeitos das variabilidades do campo geomagnético no ambiente ionosférico brasileiro utilizando dados coletados pelos magnetômetros do programa de Estudo e Monitoramento BRAsileiro do Clima Espacial (EMBRACE). O modelo mais aceito para o campo geomagnético baseia-se em um campo magnético principal gerado no núcleo terrestre. Sobreposto a ele, estão as variações devido às correntes externas, entre elas, a corrente do eletrojato equatorial (EEJ). Este último é uma intensa corrente elétrica horizontal que flui na ionosfera em torno de 105 km de altitude ao longo do equador magnético. Nesta fase inicial do trabalho foi realizada uma análise comparativa entre os dados coletados pelos magnetômetros EMBRACE instalados em São Luís-MA (SLZ, 2.59° S, 44.21° W, dip: -7.3) e Eusébio-CE (EUS, 3.88° S, 38.42° W, dip: -16.5). Para tanto, foram selecionados dados coletados nos meses de janeiro a março de 2012 e dados coletados nos mesmos meses para o ano de 2002. Com isso, também foram investigadas as variações ocorridas nestes períodos no campo magnético induzido pelo EEJ no nível do solo. Os resultados são apresentados e discutidos.

AbstractEste trabalho tem como base a região E da ionosfera equatorial, onde é formado o eletrojato equatorial (EEJ). O EEJ é uma intensa corrente elétrica centrada em torno do equador magnético e que é composta por um amplo espectro de irregularidades de plasma, as quais têm comprimento de onda com ordens quilométricas até ordem de metros. Neste estudo utilizamos dados adquiridos pelo radar instalado no Rádio Observatório de Jicamarca (ROJ), em Lima-Peru. Este radar opera em 50 MHz, o qual detecta irregularidades de plasma de curta escala de comprimento (3 metros) e é capaz de cobrir toda a ionosfera, mas nosso estudo restringe-se numa faixa de altura que se estende de ~90 até ~120 km da ionosfera equatorial. Com uma análise espectral dos ecos recebidos pelo radar podemos detectar dois tipos de irregularidades de plasma: tipo 1 (explicado pela teoria de instabilidade de dois feixes modificada) e tipo 2 (explicado pela teoria de deriva de gradiente). As irregularidades do tipo 1 possuem espectro mais estreito, com centro de distribuição sobre a velocidade correspondente à velocidade íon-acústica (~ 360 m/s). As irregularidades tipo 2 possuem espectro com uma largura maior e centro de distribuição sobre uma velocidade inferior à velocidade íon-acústica. Neste estudo utilizamos dados dos anos de 2007 e 2008 (período de baixa atividade solar) para realização de uma estatística sazonal da ocorrência das irregularidades de plasma do EEJ. Neste estudo observamos que a maior chance de observação das irregularidades ocorre durante os equinócios. Além disso, notamos que no fim do dia há uma elevação da região de espalhamento onde ocorrem as irregularidades.

AbstractO Projeto tem dois objetivos específicos. O primeiro objetivo é através do uso dos equipamentos integrantes: Riômetro Imageador e Riômetro de um canal, da rede SARINET (do inglês: South American Riometer Network) que possui uma estação instalada no Observatório Espacial do Sul - OES/CRS/CCR/INPE MCTI, em São Martinho da Serra, RS, estudar as interações Sol-Terra, a pesquisa da precipitação de partículas na Anomalia Magnética do Atlântico Sul AMAS e a dinâmica e geometria da AMAS em função da atividade geomagnética, a partir de observações da variação da absorção ionosférica de ondas de rádio de origem cósmica. O segundo objetivo é o monitoramento a longo prazo da atividade solar para o estudo da região da AMAS, utilizando a rede de receptores SAVNET (do inglês: South American VLF Network), que utiliza as propriedades de rádio propagação de ondas VLF (do inglês: Very Low Frequency, 3 - 30 kHz). As atividades de estudo, desenvolvimento da pesquisa, redução, análise e interpretação de dados, são realizadas no Laboratório de Sondagem Ionosférica e Atmosfera Neutra Terrestre LSIANT do Centro Regional Sul de Pesquisas Espaciais CRS/CCR/INPE MCTI, em Santa Maria, RS. A coleta de dados experimentais possibilita estabelecer a relação entre a absorção ionosférica do ruído cósmico e o fluxo de partículas energéticas observada nesta região. Resultados de absorção ionosférica e de ruído cósmico são apresentados.
