Resumo	Continuous nonlinear transmission lines (NLTLs), also known as gyromagnetic lines, consist of ferrite-based magnetic cores biased by an external magnetic field. Over the past years, many analytical and experimental studies have predicted the rise time reduction of the input pulse to the range of a few nanoseconds or even hundreds of ps experimentally observed in such gyromagnetic lines. This effect, known as pulse sharpening, is investigated in this paper built on a model based on a periodic structure of inductivecapacitive cells in series with magnetization-driven voltage sources expressed by the one-dimensional form (1D) of the LandauLifshitzGilbert (LLG) gyromagnetic equation. We explore the model through parametric study under various inputpulse parameters to understand the physics behind the ferrimagnetic material responses. Moreover, the numerical results obtained from computational simulations using Mathematica (v. 12.1) show how the line parameters (input voltage, damping constant, saturation magnetization, and length) affect the sharpening effect, which is quantified by the switching time. Our results on ferrite-loaded coaxial lines have confirmed many results found in the literature. We validated with a good agreement the proposed model with the result obtained by Dolan in 1993 using the same 1D form of the LLG equation, thus showing that the model proposed here is suitable to quantify the sharpening effect produced by a gyromagnetic NLTL.

Resumo	Graphene-related materials (GRM) are promising materials to improve mechanical, electrical, and optical polymer properties. Adding multi-wall carbon nanotubes (MWCNT) on GRM nanocomposites promotes synergistic effects on its electrical properties and electromagnetic interference shielding effectiveness (EMI SE). This study focused on evaluating the addition of MWCNT on three different polycarbonate (PC)/ acrylonitrile butadiene styrene (ABS)/GRM nanocomposites. These hybrid nanocomposites were prepared by melt mixing using extrusion and injection-mold processes. The morphologies of the nanocomposites were evaluated by field emission gun scanning electron microscopy (FEG-SEM), and their proprieties were characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD), oscillatory rheological, dielectric spectroscopy, and EMI SE analyses. The electrical behavior of all hybrid nanocomposites was anisotropic due to the injectionmolded preparation process. The lateral size, thickness, and production method of the GRM were indicated to be critical factors for the electrical and EMI SE behaviors of these composites. The nanocomposites with GRM2, which had the smallest lateral size and thickness (graphene nanoplatelets), promoted total attenuation levels around 20 dB with 1.5 wt% of MWCNT, matching the EMI SE required for some commercial applications.

Resumo	The vertically aligned multi-walled carbon nanotubes (VACNTs) / polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) nanocompositebased strain sensors presented in this study show different behavior depending on catalyst concentrations for VACNT growth. Under static tensile load, the sensor with lower catalyst concentration shows a high gauge factor (GF~1400), whereupon tunneling effect is the mechanism that dictates the sensitivity. For higher concentrations, the GF decreases (GF~40) and shows an ohmic conduction. Morphological examinations showed VACNTs are homogeneously and randomly distributed as clusters with CNT bridging in the PDMS polymer matrix. Based on dielectric impedance (DI) and direct current (DC) electrical analysis, it was possible to identify that cut-off frequency (fc) increases with VACNTs concentration. Cut-off frequency can also define high sensitivity VACNT sensors with lower VACNT density. When compared with dispersed MWCNT sensors, VACNTs have a reduced fc due to the larger internal resistance variation associated with the high tunneling effect. This effect associated with the high sensitivity of the VACNT/PDMs sensors makes it a key factor to understand the mechanisms responsible for increasing the sensitivity and manufacturing of high GF nanocomposite stretchable sensors.

Resumo	We study the dynamical behavior of the mean-square displacement of height fluctuations of freestanding graphene using a phase-field-crystal model introduced recently. We find that the dynamic scaling behavior obtained numerically at long times is well described by the scaling theory of polymerized membranes. The critical exponent characterizing the power-law increase with time depends only on the equilibrium roughening exponent ξ as α = ξ/(1 + ξ ). For sufficiently long times it crosses over to linear behavior for finite-size systems. The critical exponent α is in good agreement with the anomalous diffusion exponent observed experimentally in graphene, suggesting this is a property that could also be observable in other two-dimensional crystalline materials.

Resumo	Materials prepared via the polymer-derived ceramic route have been increasingly studied for protection against electromagnetic energy to mitigate electromagnetic interference. Both experimental and computational evaluations of electrospun SiCN fibers applied to electromagnetic shielding are not yet reported in the literature. This work aims to evaluate the electromagnetic properties of SiCN electrospun fibers by experiments and computational modelling and simulation. Polysilazane and polyacrylonitrile were used respectively as the ceramic precursor and spinning aid. After electrospinning, the fibers were pyrolyzed at 1000 °C. The samples were named SiCN_0, SiCN_40, and SiCN_70 respectively for 0, 40, and 70 wt.% polyacrylonitrile. The scattering parameters, impedances, and reflection losses were collected under X-band (8.2-12.4 GHz) in a vector network analyzer employing the waveguide propagation setup. The experimental scattering parameters were converted through the Nicolson-Ross-Weir method together with the shielding effectiveness and numerical electromagnetic computational studies. Simulations of scattering parameters were performed, and introductory electromagnetic scattering calculations in free space were computed including the radar cross-section (RCS) study. The relative complex electrical permittivity was approximately 3, 4.5, and 4 (real part) and 0.05, 0.22, and 0.1 (imaginary part) respectively for SiCN_0, SiCN_40, and SiCN_70. The SiCN_40 could experimentally store and lose more electromagnetic energy in the material, exhibiting a minimum reflection coefficient of -1.4 dB at 12.4 GHz. The computational simulation corroborated the better performance of SiCN_40 in reflection loss as well as in other electromagnetic spectral responses. Additionally, correlations between electromagnetic properties extracted from experiments and computational results from the RCS study were observed. The free space electromagnetic scattering of SiCN_40 showed better features when compared to the other samples. Owing to the microstructure and product design, SiCN_40 fibers demonstrated satisfying electromagnetic shielding properties in X-band. The computational experiments showed to be a new modelling and simulation approach to evaluate the electromagnetic properties of electrospun SiCN fibers. Further research will focus on material optimization and computational evaluation.

Resumo	Objective: The present study evaluated the performance of cavity preparations in a group of patients, using piezoelectric associated to diamond inserts. Only posterior teeth were selected, and the restorations performed were of the Class I or II type, without cusp involvement. The aim of this study was relate the depth of cavity to patients sensitivity presented during preparation. Materials and Methods: From a group of 20 patients, 119 posterior teeth were prepared and evaluated about the depth and sensitivity presented during the interventions.All clinical procedures started without anesthesia, in order to measure the sensitivity of using piezoelectric with diamond inserts.The preparations were evaluated from a digital image generated from cast models , showing the depths and their relationship with the sensitivity presented during their execution. Results: Statistical analyzes were performed by separating patients into three groups with regard to sensitivity presentedGroups 1 (0 and 1); Groups 2 (2); Group 3(3). Wilcoxon Mann-tests Withney, Test t and Kruskal Wallis were used in each of the sensitive (2 and 3) and non-sensitive (Group 1) groups, with a 95% confidence level (p≤5/ α= 0.05) and complemented with the Tuckey test of variance to one parameter, where there was no significant difference. Conclusions: In all analyses, the results indicate that there were no significant differences between groups, so that in the sample it is not possible to identify correlation between the average depth of interventions and the level of sensitivity. Clinical Relevance: This study demonstrate the exclusive use of a oscillatory instrument as piezoelectric with diamond inserts to dental preparation, and its clinical behavior and advantages.

Resumo	Diamond nanoparticles (DNPs) have demonstrated in vitro and in vivo biomedical applicability due to their low toxicity and biocompatibility. Recent studies have focused on the potential use of DNPs as suitable vehicles to improve drug delivery in cancer treatment. The advantages of DNPs lie in their high stability and small size compared to other carbon-based nanomaterials. In this work, CVD-diamond nanoparticles (CVDDNPs) were synthesized and evaluated for their application as a new drug delivery platform for metastatic melanoma therapy. A new synthesis technique developed DNPs from CVD diamond thin film. This type of diamond has the same physical and chemical properties as a natural diamond: extreme hardness, excellent thermal conductivity, low coefficient of friction, biocompatibility, and is chemically inert at temperatures below 800 °C. The main objective of this study was to produce CVD-DNPs by laser ablation and evaluate their cytotoxicity. A pulsed, ytterbium-doped fiber (Yb) was used to form DNPs in pure aqueous medium (Milli-Q). The final suspension was obtained at high concentration of the CVD-DNPs and was used to evaluate the cytotoxicity in murine metastatic melanoma B16-F10 cells by using colorimetric assays. The characterization by FT-IR, X-Ray, DLS, RAMAN, SEM, and TEM demonstrated the successful synthesis of CVD-DNPs with a hydrodynamic diameter of 57 and 54 nm. In vitro studies performed for 24 h and 48 h resulted in 7080% viability of cells incubated with CVD-DNPs at 250 μg/mL, which demonstrated an insignificant cytotoxic effect. Thus, these results suggest the potential use of CVD-DNPs as a drug delivery platform for antitumoral therapy.
