| Resumo | The Sobradinho lake has great importance in the regulation of water resources in the region around it, benefiting mainly local agriculture and livestock. In addition, the lake also influences the local wind circulation regime, impacting the local variation in temperature and precipitation (Melo et al., 2013;Correia et al., 2006a; Correia et al., 2006b). However, the objective of this work was to evaluate the performance of the Eta model, in the simulation of surface variables, in the surroundings of Sobradinho lake. Eta is an atmospheric model, developed for weather forecasts and regional climate, proposed to predict in greater detail mesoscale phenomena and systems, such as: phenomena associated with fronts, orography, sea breeze, severe storms, etc. The model presents the equations in a discretized form in the Arakawa type E grid. In this model, the vertical coordinate defined by Mesinger (1984) is used. In this experiment, the following physical parameterization schemes were used: Convection proposed by Betts-Miller and modified by Janjic ́(1994); Mellor-Yamada turbulence closure scheme level 2.5 Mellor and Yamada (1982) to represent turbulent processes in the free atmosphere; cloud microphysics scheme by Ferrier et al. (2002); GFDL radiation schemes Lacis and Hansen (1974), Schwarzkopf and Fels (1991). The spatial resolution used was 5km, in the period of 72h (09/16/2022-09/19/2022). A body of water mask was also used to represent Lake Sobradinho. The simulated variables were the following: Temperature at 2m, sensible heat flux, latent heat flux and wind at 10m. The results showed that the model can see the lake at 5km resolution, and can present an expected behavior of the diurnal temperature cycle at 2m, sensible and latent heat fluxes, mainly for freshwater lakes or rivers, as described by Hartmann, D. L. (1994), although the values were not quantified and validated with station data. However, it is intended in future works, to increase the time scale and validate the simulations with the data observed in surface stations. |
