AbstractA simplified hydrological model was used to estimate the water flows in the Igarapé Pedra Preta compartments Basin (Amapá-Ap). Only the main physical processes were considered in the hydrological model. This procedure was justified due to the scarcity of the hydrological data set available. The hydrological model was calibrated using fluviometric data measured at a gauge for the Nov/97 to Feb/98 period. Based on basin calibration results, the parameters for the other compartments were empirically inferred. The hydrological model was also used to calculate the water discharges throughout the basin, beginning in Jan/96, during a period when only meteorological data (but no hydrological data) were available. RESUMO: Para se estimar as vazões de água nos diversos compartimentos da Bacia do Igarapé Pedra Preta (Amapá-Ap), utilizou-se um modelo hidrológico simplificado, onde apenas os principais processos físicos foram considerados. Este procedimento justificou-se plenamente ao levar-se em conta que o uso de modelos mais complexos exigiriam, por sua vez, uma quantidade de dados hidro-meteorológicos muito superior ao disponível. Calibrou-se o modelo hidrológico aos dados de vazão medidos em um dos compartimentos da bacia no período de Nov/97 a Fev/98. A partir dessa calibração inferiu-se, de uma forma empírica, os parâmetros para os outros compartimentos. Em seguida utilizou-se o modelo para calcular as vazões nos diversos compartimentos da bacia, desde Jan/96, durante o período em que se tinha dados meteorológicos mas nenhum dado hidrológico.
