AbstractEste trabalho teve por objetivo validar os parâmetros de superfície (umidade superficial do solo, temperatura de superfície e profundidade óptica) derivados do sensor AMSR-E, a bordo do satélite Aqua. Estes parâmetros foram recuperados utilizando um modelo de recuperação dos parâmetros de superfície (LPRM), desenvolvido por pesquisadores da NASA e da Universidade Livre de Amsterdã. Para a validação da umidade superficial do solo e da temperatura de superfície foram utilizados dados da Reanálise do modelo ETA. O parâmetro de vegetação do modelo LPRM, denominado profundidade óptica, foi validado com o Índice de Vegetação por Diferença Normalizada (NDVI). A partir dos resultados, verificou-se que as áreas de cerrado têm um grande potencial de recuperação dos parâmetros de superfície; enquanto que, para regiões de vegetação densa, o potencial é limitado.The goal of this work was to validate land surface parameters (surface soil moisture, surface temperature and optical depth) as derived from AMSR-E passive microwave observations. These parameters had been retrieved from the Land Parameter Retrieval Model (LPRM), which was developed by researchers from NASA and the Vrije University Amsterdam. For the validation of soil moisture and land surface temperature we used the Reanalysis ETA model data. The vegetation parameter of the LPRM, so called vegetation optical depth, was validated with the Normalized Difference Vegetation Index (NDVI). From these results we concluded that the region with cerrado vegetation has a strong potential to retrieve reliable land surface parameters. For the regions with dense vegetation covers the potential to retrieve reliable land surface parameters from microwave observations are limited.
