ResumoThis work describes a computational investigation on rarefied hypersonic flow past truncated wedges at incidence. Positive angle-of-attack effects on the flowfield structure have been investigated by employing the Direct Simulation Monte Carlo Method. A method that properly accounts for the nonequilibrium aspects of the flow. Aspects that arise near the leading-edge nose and that are especially important at high Mach numbers. The results presented highlight the sensitivity of the primary properties to changes not only on the angle of attack but also on the frontal-face thickness of the leading edges. Some significant differences between sharp and blunt leading edges were noted on the flowfield structure. It was found that the angle-of-attack variations have different influence on velocity, density, pressure and temperature along the stagnation streamline ahead of the leading edges as well as on the profiles adjacent to the body surface. The analysis showed that positive angle of attack causes the expected asymmetry in the flow patterns as the stagnation point moves from the symmetry axis to the windward side of the leading edges. Interesting features observed in the properties profiles showed that small leading edge thickness, compared to the freestream mean free path, still has important effects on high Mach number leading edge flows.
