| Resumo | The increasing availability of thermal sensing data has enabled studies aimed at the understanding of relationships between thermal processes and land surface temperature (LST). In this study, it was evaluated an atmospheric correction model proposed by Barsi (2003), which also includes the correction for the emissivity of the objects in scene, in an area of São José dos Campos, SP. Results from processing TIRS / Landsat 8 data showed differences of up to 10 °C between the surface temperature and estimated apparent temperatures. It was also noted that in different land use and land cover classes the effect of these corrections happen unevenly. Correcting only surface emissivity showed less influences over the entire area, despite higher differences was observed on bare soil areas, since its emissivity value is the fewer compared to other classes. Otherwise, correcting only the atmospheric effects resulted in higher influences in LST values for all classes, mainly for urban and bare soil. Finally, the complete correction, which considers both atmospheric and emissivity effects, impacts significantly the temperature values, producing higher values compared to the other corrections. These results highlight the importance of these corrections in studies focused on temperature dynamics generated by changes in land use. |
