| Resumo | The Rondonia Boundary Layer Experiment has been planned to study the interaction between the two most common vegetation covers in the Amazonia (forest an pasture) and the atmospheric boundary layer (ABL). Up to now, 2 field campaig have been carried out to study the termodinamic struture of ABL, using rawinsoundings and tethered ballons. During the first intensive field campaign (IFC-1, september 1992) data collection took place only for the forest site (IBAMA's Jaru Biological Reserve, 10 01'S, 61 05'W, 120m). During IFC-2 (Jully 1993), measurements have been taken both at the forest and pasture (10 07'S, 62 03'W, 220m) sites, but for logical reasons, not simultaneoosly. For pasture, surface sensible heat is higher and evaporation is smaller compared to those fluxes at the forest site. The analysis of RBLE/IFC-2 data show that daytime ABL is well mixed and its heigth is higher over pasture than forest and that the height difference can be as high as 1 Km. |
