| Resumo | The Atmospheric Boundary Layer Experiment in Alta Floresta, MT (09 52'S; 56 06'W; 288 m) - ECLAF, was carried out during the dry and burning season, from August 15 to 30, 1995, as part of an integrated study of mercury dispersion in the atmosphere. It consisted of five dayly radiosoundings, intercalated with rawing soundings, plus surface meteorological observations. For the meteorological analysis, satellite images and synoptic maps were also used. The region was under the influence of an anti-cyclone, with convection inhibition, except on days 28 and 29, when an instability in the East occured. At the surface, the temperature varied from 16 to 37 C, with maxima equal to 34.6 1.4 C, and minima equal to 18.3 1.5 C. The wind, at 10 m, predominated from the S-E quadrant, with a maximum of 3.5 m/s. The relative humidity ranged from 18 to 100, with dayly maxima between 80 and 100 (average 92 6.5); the minima varied from 18 to 33 (average 26.2 4.0), occuring between 13 to 15 LST. These results show the occurence, during the day of the dry season, of very low air moisture values in Amazonia. |
