abstract = "In order to take advantage of remote sensed data obtained from
orbital sensors, one must take into account the presence of
suspended particulate matter in the atmosphere like water vapor
and aerosols and its influence over the data, for that reason,
atmospheric correction algorithms like FLAASH where developed.
With that in mind, the present paper aims to analyze and access
the atmospheric corrected reflectance data of two OLI Landsat-8
scenes, comparing the reflectance spectrum obtained from its bands
with in situ measures in clear sky conditions. The field data was
taken from a spectroradiometer FSP-2500P over a homogeneous area
in the whereabouts of the rural region of S{\~a}o Jos{\'e} dos
Campos that measures roughly 500m². Through this research, it was
possible to perceive a strong presence of suspended particulate
matter in the atmosphere derived from the urban zone and the
industries that surrounds the region of interest. Even so, the
atmospheric correction algorithm was able to implement a
satisfactory correction over the data, but it also overestimated
the reflectance on bands one (Coastal aerosol) and five (Near
infrared) for some targets. As a conclusion, the FLAASH algorithm
is not suited for tasks that need high precision, but with a fine
tune, it can still be implemented for academic use.",
