             abstract = "This study aimed to develop an analysis of land use and its 
                         relationship with the Permanent Preservation Areas (APP) in the 
                         watershed of the river Crubix{\'a} - Alfredo Chaves, ES, using 
                         Remote Sensing and Geographic Information Systems (GIS ). Was used 
                         as legal reference the Brazilian Forest Code (Federal Law no. 
                         4.771/1965) and CONAMA No 303/02 of the National Council on the 
                         Environment as regards the delimitation of APP. The identification 
                         of areas of land use, and conflicts of PPA showed that 41.34% of 
                         the total area of the basin correspond to APP's, where the main 
                         land use is intended for the pousio area with grazing fallow areas 
                         , corresponding to 66.11%, with few areas that have been 
                         preserved, representing only 19.74% of total APP.",
