abstract = "This paper aims to explore data vehicle theft occurred in
Maracan{\~a} neighborhood, Vila Isabel and Tijuca, in Rio de
Janeiro, between the years 2005 and 2009 and has as main objective
the construction of thematic maps for analysis of variance spatial
and temporal phenomenon. Data were imported into a geographic
information system (GIS) ArcGIS, where we applied the
interpolation kernel for building density surfaces, which serve as
reference for the maps of spatial variation, where it was found
that the period a constant study of agglomeration (cluster) of
cases of theft in regions close to poor communities dominated by
organized crime, neighborhoods and Tijuca Vila Isabel. The
neighborhood had no Maracan{\~a} regions with intensities that
typify critical areas, maintaining a behavior of random spatial
distribution. We concluded that, although cases of vehicle theft
occur in virtually all existing routes in the study area. Analysis
of these cases allowed the identification of a trend in the
distribution patterns of cases in some regions and a trend
clusters of cases featuring too close (cluster), which focus
mostly in the vicinity of some poor communities. And that despite
these clusters occur frequently are endemic, with two distinct
behaviors, the shift of concentration to adjacent and
non-existence in some periods, and when they reach an average of
less than 10% of the study area.",
