             abstract = "In this paper we analyze the behavior of estimators of parameters 
                         that characterize zero-mean isotropic gaussian random 
                         \fields obeying the Mat{\'e}rn correlation model, when the 
                         \fields are subjected to data sampling and fusion. These 
                         two operations characterize the operation of Wireless Sensor 
                         Networks, which are devices widely employed in the remote 
                         monitoring of environmental indicators. Using a Monte Carlo 
                         approach we conclude that these networks introduce large 
                         deviations on the estimates.",
