abstract = "The dynamics of limnological features of water bodies are
essential in evaluating these systems, because they represent
physicochemical and biological characteristics of a given
condition. Remote sensing techniques can provide spatial and
temporal data concerning these environmental variables in a
shorter time and at a lower cost. This paper aims to make
algorithms for suspended sediment load prediction from
multi-temporal Landsat TM5 digital data at different sample
places. RBF from atmospherically corrected TM digital data were
extracted from 19 images at 13 sample places. The relationships
found show that although the database include large temporal
interval (1985 2009) and different sample places, it is possible
to define patterns of behavioral characteristics of each large set
of active optical components. Two classes of active optical
components were defined: predominance of inorganic sediments and
chlorophyll together with inorganic sediments. Statistical tests
were realized for elaboration of mathematical models to enable the
prediction of total suspended sediment in Landsat 5 path without
field samples. Nevertheless these relationships will be useful
only in similar limnological conditions of inorganic sediments and
trophic state. In Paran{\'a} River basin, these algorithms may
allow the retrieval of a large amount of limnological data on
rivers, reservoirs and floodplains from previous years.",
