abstract = "The objective of this study was to delineate automatically the
Queima P{\'e} River watershed permanent preservation areas and to
identify the land use conflicts using thematic images obtained
from TM/Landsat sensor. The study area is located in Mato Grosso
State, Brazil. The mapping and quantification of land use
conflicts in permanent preservation areas were obtained through
the multiplication of matricial themes. Results showed that the
Queima P{\'e} River watershed area is 16,100 ha. Considering this
total area, 3,025 ha (18.8%) were identified and mapped as
permanent preservation areas, from which, 1,965 ha (65%) were in
land use conflict. The methodology for automatic delineation of
permanent preservation areas facilitated land use map generation ,
enabling the identification and location of areas of land use
conflict, making possible, in an unprecedented way, application of
the Forest Law.",
