abstract = "The ENSO (El Nino-South Oscillation) impacts, associated with
human actions such deforestation and intensive cattle pasturage,
increase the space-temporal environment degradation levels,
influence on superficial water resources, and influence on social,
economic, and environmental risks construction on Brazilian
semi-arid region too. This work presents a space-temporal dynamic
study of the total rainfall, and canopy and superficial water
resources degradation of several cities of the semi-arid region of
the Para{\'{\i}}ba State, Brazil, through of TM/LANDSAT 5 and
ETM+/LANDSAT-7 products, to the years of 1984, 1987, 1996, 1999
and 2001. The digital analyses were made, using the Adjusted
Multispectral Composition method. From the obtained results, it
was verified there is an important quantitative influence of the
ENSO events on environmental degradation processes, and in the
storage of water in all reservoirs of the area of study. This
evidence the high vulnerability of the people that living in this
region to the ENSO events.",
