             abstract = "This study aimed to diagnose the use of the land in Areas of 
                         Permanent Preservation (APP) in the Environmental Protection Area 
                         (APA) of Murici, state of Alagoas. The methodology consists of a 
                         series of procedures, from field surveys, acquisition, generation, 
                         processing and analysis of spatial and non-spatial information, 
                         through interpretation of satellite images and map reading. It was 
                         found that the APP springs correspond to only 0.10%, while the APP 
                         situated on slopes of more than 45 ° degrees of tilt corresponding 
                         to 22.98%, and APP situated along the banks of watercourses 3 11%, 
                         totaling 26.19% of seating areas permanently protected in 
                         accordance with environmental legislation. Was found that just 
                         over half of the APP the APA Murici, are formed by forest 
                         remnants, almost 30% of agricultural and 18% of exposed soil in 
                         preparation for cultivation or not. The APPs account for just over 
                         26% of the APA, the largest share those situated on the hill top 
                         with 45 ° slope, almost 23%, followed by the margins of 
                         watercourses with little more than 3% and the lowest the source 
                         with 136 ha (0.10%). In the diagnose of land use in APP, 
                         agriculture is the most frequent with almost 30%. With this, it is 
                         concluded that forest fragments are being intensely pressured by 
                         the types of uses in the vicinity and that part of APP has been 
                         used and occupied improperly regardless of environmental 
                         legislation.",
