             abstract = "This paper explores the GEOBIA (Image Analysis Based on Geographic 
                         Objects) in order to obtain the input vectors for training 
                         Artificial Neural Network (ANN) through Self-Organizing Maps 
                         (SOM), for classifying patterns of land use. Pre-processing 
                         required in remote sensing images, and then the objects with their 
                         descriptors are performed. The feature selection is from PCA 
                         (Principal Component Analysis) culminating in the export of 
                         vectors with descriptors. The validation was ranked in some 
                         segments, with a kappa index of 0.9, being a rating of excelent 
                         quality, satisfactory result for the first tests with the SOM.",
