abstract = "Hydrological models are essential for management actions and
planning of water resources. The process of transformation of
rainfall flow in a simplified form and is widely used to model the
behavior of the hydrological basin. The lack of data in many
regions of the country, especially in the Amazon, limits the
development of study for this purpose. Thus, the use of rainfall
data provided by the Climate Prediction Center (CPC) / National
Centers for Environmental Prediction (NCEP) may become an
alternative for the hydrological modeling of watersheds. In this
study, we sought to evaluate through statistical analysis the
correlation between the data of monthly flows observed and
calculated from the rains of CPC / NCEP and application in a
hydrological model of the empirical kind for a sub-basin of the
Araguaia River. The results showed that the hydrological model
evaluated performed well for calibration and validation, thus
validating the use of data from CPC / NCEP in hydrologic
forecasting.",
