             abstract = "The practice of irrigated agriculture represents an increase in 
                         agricultural productivity, especially for regions with water 
                         deficit. However, this type of agriculture is often combined with 
                         the lack of conservation measures imposing serious environmental 
                         consequences. This study aims to identify priority areas for 
                         interventions in land use and/or soil management (irrigation or 
                         other uses) regarding agricultural sustainability in the Irrigated 
                         Perimeter of Miroros-BA (semi-arid region). Therefore, assessments 
                         of land potential as well as the mapping of land use and 
                         vegetation cover were applied. Using a comparative analysis of 
                         classifications of land for irrigation and of land use adequacy 
                         were set priorities for intervention regarding land use and land 
                         management related to needs of Conservation, Recovery and 
                         Recovery/Preservation. The results showed that, in general, the 
                         lands of the Perimeter Miroros have potential for agriculture in 
                         generally or for irrigated agriculture, but with urgent need for 
                         interventions in soil management, related to Conservation or 
                         Priority Conservation. In addition, there are interventions 
                         required regarding land use, implying the Recovery/Priority 
                         Preservation areas that are being used above their potential, as 
                         well as interventions in the use and management, i.e. in Priority 
                         Recovery. The proposed methods, together with the geoprocessing 
                         tools can be considered essential for the conservation of natural 
                         resources in the study area.",
