abstract = "Mangrove forests correspond to important ecological and landscape
aspects of coastal tropical and subtropical regions of the
Americas, covering the extensive area of the Brazilian territory.
The state of Pernambuco has a concentration of mangroves quite
significant because in its territory, are the main species of
mangroves, which are responsible for the protection of coastal
areas, but several authors cause destruction of the mangroves, we
emphasize the constant processes of anthropogenic suffered by this
ecosystem surrounding the Port of Suape. Therefore, this study
aimed to assess the level of degradation over roughly two decades
of the sample period (1989, 1998, 2000 and 2007) in the area
corresponding to the Industrial and Port Complex of Suape, from
the use of biophysical variables such as NDVI and LAI, to
demonstrate the increase and decrease the soil exposed canopy
plant. Were checked seven main classes of land cover and use,
highlighting the presence of areas of exposed soil on the effects
generated by various stressors in the study area. Analyzing data
from the NDVI temporal IAF and the region is noted that there is
an increase in areas of exposed soil alongside the retreat of
mangrove areas by the year 2007, when they began to regenerate due
to the regenerative potential of ecosystem and greater protection
                         of these areas.",
