abstract = "Major flooding or flood pulses are important for the connectivity
of different habitats in the floodplain. Thus, this paper attempts
to contribute to the understanding of hydrodynamic processes and
spatiotemporal connectivity environments of the floodplain of the
upper course of the Parana River through mapping of seasonally
flooded areas, using altimetry data from the SRTM and extracted by
aerial digital images. So, it was applied several procedures on
the SRTM data as interpolation-based geostatistics and trend
surface modeling to eliminate noises and improve the spatial
resolution. The altitude of the aerial images was extracted by
photogrammetric methods. The DEMs were referred to the hidrometric
level of Porto S{\~a}o Jos{\'e} fluviometric station and were
sliced into classes for analysis the dynamics of flooding. The
quality control of the elevation models were performed using
three-dimensional coordinates collected with geodetic GPS and the
mapping of flooded areas was compared using orbital images of the
TM sensor. The results showed that the models able to create
suitable scenarios, and flood static simulations allow outlining a
conceptual model more well-defined of the hydrodynamic processes
                         in the fluvial system.",
