                         regional project aiming to stimulate the adoption of Earth 
                         Observation Open Data provided by the Copernicus programme, the 
                         paper exemplifies an application of Copernicus resources through a 
                         use case for land monitoring. To this end, the paper describes a 
                         workflow for land cover classification of satellite images, 
                         classification validation, and integration with hydrographic 
                         datasets to study flooding risks. This activity is part of the 
                         Copernicus User Uptake Initiative efforts to contribute to the 
                         dissemination of the skills in the management and use of data, 
                         services, and tools offered by the Copernicus ecosystem.",
