abstract = "The selective logging has been affecting extensive areas in the
Amazonian and the assessment of this activity for satellite images
it is difficulty to recognize due to partial reduction of the
forest covering in the process of selective extraction of the
trees. The objective of this work was to evaluate the application
of the techniques of digital processing of images in the
identification of processes of selective logging in the Amazonian
area. They were applied techniques of Linear Spectral Mixture
Models (LSMM), Principal Component Analysis (PCA), HIS
Transformation and Reason of Bands. On the image P2 (ACP), H (IHS)
and Soil Fraction was applied a dilation filter and evaluated
different interactions. The best interaction was interpreted
visually and compared with another specialist's interpretation on
the same image without the processing tested in this work. The
image originating from image ACP provided the most appropriate
contrast even after the application of the dilation filter
maintaining dark the forest areas evidencing the patios or truck
loading of logging. Low correlation was verified among the visual
classification accomplished in the image P2 (ACP) and the
classification accomplished by other specialist, however, when
compared the values of the classified area the proximity of the
values was observed, with a difference of approximately 12%. The
band P2 resulting from ACP, submitted the a dilation filter with 5
interactions was the most appropriate image for the identification
of the relative pattern to the selective deforestation.",
