             abstract = "The Dam of Salto Grande, occupying an area of 10.5 km2, is located 
                         in the hydrographical basin of the Atibaia River, important 
                         tributary of the Piracicaba River, in the State of S{\~a}o Paulo. 
                         It takes care of, in the present time, to the inhabitants of the 
                         cities of Americana, Paul{\'{\i}}nia and Nova Odessa, that also 
                         use the source for activities of leisure and water captation for 
                         irrigation. The forms of land use and occupation in the area, 
                         especially those destined to the urban use, come in recent years 
                         if intensifying and causing diverse types of impacts in the dam, 
                         as the use and irregular occupation of the land, mainly in the 
                         Areas of Permanent Preservation (APPs), increase of the erosive 
                         processes, land fill, among others, that they compromise the 
                         functions of this important hydrical resource of the region. With 
                         the use of geoprocessing, adopting the software ArcGIS 9,2 (ESRI), 
                         processing and interpretation of images of satellite EROS-A and 
                         air photographs in digital way, as well as of verifications in 
                         field with support of receiver of navigation GPS, had been 
                         produced two thematics maps, one of land use and occupation and 
                         another of the socialenvironmentals impacts referring year of 
                         2007, they corroborate for the constatation that, in the last few 
                         decades, a process of increasing urbanization comes occurring in 
                         near of the dam with irregular occupation of the APPs, thus 
                         generating a series of socialenvironmentals impacts.",
