{\'e} estudar a variabilidade das diversas camadas Es observadas
em Santa Maria (29,7° S, 53,8° O), RS, na regi{\~a}o central da
Anomalia Magn{\'e}tica da Am{\'e}rica do Sul (AMAS). Foram
analisados e manualmente editados com o software SAO-Explorer
aproximadamente 81.600 ionogramas coletados de julho de 2019 a
junho de 2020 por uma Digissonda. Os tipos de Es foram
classificados em rela{\c{c}}{\~a}o a ocorr{\^e}ncia,
dura{\c{c}}{\~a}o, esta{\c{c}}{\~o}es do ano
(solst{\'{\i}}cios de dezembro e junho e equin{\'o}cios de
mar{\c{c}}o e setembro) e atividade magn{\'e}tica.
solst{\'{\i}}cio de dezembro.
(somat{\'o}rio do {\'{\i}}ndice Kp \≤24 ou Kp <3+).
campo geomagn{\'e}tico (aproximadamente 22.000 nT)
caracter{\'{\i}}stica da regi{\~a}o central da AMAS. Para cada
esta{\c{c}}{\~a}o do ano, foi realizada uma an{\'a}lise dos
AMAS. ABSTRACT: Sporadic-E (Es) layers may be classified into
various types accordingly to their appearance in the ionograms and
the location of observation: Esq (equatorial), Esf (flat), Esl
(low), Esc (cusp), Esh (high), Ess (slant), and Esa (auroral). The
Esq is a signature of type II irregularities embedded in the
Equatorial Electrojet, while the other types are characterized by
the enhanced plasma ionization in the E region due to the
deposition of metallic ions from the meteoroid ablation process.
The objective of this work is to study the variability of the
several Es layer types observed over Santa Maria (29,7° S, 53,8°
W), RS, in the central region of the South American Magnetic
Anomaly (SAMA). It was analyzed and manually edited with the
SAO-Explorer approximately 81,600 ionograms collected from July
2019 to June 2020 by a Digisonde. The Es types were classified in
terms of their occurrence, duration, seasons of the year (December
and June solstices, March and September equinoxes), and magnetic
activity. In general, the type q was not observed as expected, and
the highest occurrence of Es was in November 2019, equal to 74% of
the total hours recorded by the Digisonde. The season of the year
with the highest occurrence of Es, equal to 66%, was the December
solstice. According to the different types observed were
predominant the types f, l and h. The occurrence of Esa, usually
seen at high latitudes (auroral regions), was also observed in
Santa Maria, even on days classified as geomagnetically quiet
(\ΣKp \≤ 24 or Kp < 3+). Its occurrence can be
explained by the low intensity of the geomagnetic field
(approximately 22,000 nT), which is a characteristic of the
central region of the SAMA. For each season of the year, an
analysis of the specific types of Es was carried out for each
hour, which was allowed to observe the appearance of each type.
During the day there was a high occurrence of types h and l, while
during the night it was predominant the type f. It was obtained,
for the first time with the present analyses, a broad statistical
study on the occurrence and variability of the Es layers that
occurred over Santa Maria, central region of the SAMA.",
