             abstract = "The papers presented at the XXIII Brazilian Symposium on 
                         Geoinformatics, GEOINFO 2022, are included in this volume of 
                         proceedings. The Federal University of Sao Joao Del-Rei (UFSJ), 
                         the National Institute for Space Research (INPE), and the National 
                         Center for Monitoring, Warning of Natural Disasters (CEMADEN) 
                         organized this edition. This is the rst presencial edition of 
                         GEOINFO since the COVID-19 pandemic. This issue includes 5 
                         database descriptions, 5 tools, 31 short papers, 17 full papers, 
                         and 17 full papers. We appreciate the Program Committee's thorough 
                         review of the works submitted.The long papers were presented 
                         during oral sessions, while the short papers, databases and tools 
                         descriptions were presented in poster sessions. The databases and 
                         tools are available for download at the links in texts of their 
                         respective papers. GEOINFO 2022 presented two guest lectures. Dr. 
                         Natalie Aubet from the Centro Sur Regional Technological 
                         Institute, Universidad Tecnologica del Uruguay gave a presentation 
                         on the rst day titled Groundwater Vulnerability Assessment Using 
                         GIS, EO Data: the Recharge Area of the Guarani Aquifer System in 
                         Uruguay. The second day featured a presentation on Science, 
                         Technology, and Ethics by Dr. Renato Janine, president of the 
                         Brazilian Society for the Progress of Science. The audience could 
                         also attend to two mini-courses: Google Earth Engine and Brazil 
                         Data Cube - EO Data Cube Products, Time series analysis. A special 
                         session on Digital Technologies for the Environment: an SBC 
                         Manifesto and a roundtable on Postgraduate Programs with Lines of 
                         Research in Geoinformatics were also held at GEOINFO 2022.",
