             abstract = "This work considers the problem of energy conservation in a single 
                         node in a wireless sensor network, by changing its status from 
                         active to sleeping to reduce consumption. However, the nodes 
                         inactivity period may compromise the network performance. In this 
                         context, it is proposed to model this system as a Discrete Time 
                         Markov Decision Process using a fixed point approximation method, 
                         in order to assure a good balancing between energy consumption and 
                         sensor inactivity.",
