com a remo{\c{c}}{\~a}o de tend{\^e}ncias lineares e com
filtragem, utilizando os dados obtidos em 22 portos
oce{\^a}nicos, no per{\'{\i}}odo de 1957-1986, no Oceano
Atl{\^a}ntico Norte Extra-tropical (ANET). A metodologia adotada
foi a de analise de Fun{\c{c}}{\~o}es Ortogonais
Emp{\'{\i}}ricas (EOFs) e a de an{\'a}lise espectral
(m{\'e}todo de m{\'a}xima entropia e da transformada r{\'a}pida
de Fourier utilizando a janela de Tukey). As tr{\^e}s primeiras
EOFs analisadas totalizaram 58 da vari{\^a}ncia. Para dois portos
{{{"}representativos{"}}} das bordas do ANET, Nova York (EUA) e
Delfzijl (Holanda), no per{\'{\i}}odo de 1893-1988, e para as
oscila{\c{c}}{\~o}es do NMM no ANET, adotou-se a mesma
metodologia, objetivando maior defini{\c{c}}{\~a}o espectral e
determina{\c{c}}{\~a}o da escala interdecadal. Os
per{\'{\i}}odos de 57, 28, 19-17, 14, 6-5, 3 anos, 27 e 14-13
meses foram encontrados. Da compara{\c{c}}{\~a}o com outros
autores, as poss{\'{\i}}veis causas dessas
oscila{\c{c}}{\~o}es , bem como resultados recentes de modelagem
e outras vari{\'a}veis clim{\'a}ticas que apresentam esses
per{\'{\i}}odos de oscila{\c{c}}{\~a}o s{\~a}o indicados
neste trabalho. ABSTRACT: Detrended and filtered time series of
Monthly Mean Sea Level (MSL) from 22 ports in the extra-tropical
North Atlantic with 30 years of uninterrupted data {{(1957-1986;}}
30°N {{}} 78°N) were examined by empirical orthogonal function
(EOF) expansions and spectral analysis of principal components by
two methods, with the three first EOF's explaining 58% of the
total variance. To extend the results well into the interdecadal
band, two series representative of the first two EOF's (44% of the
total variance) were used with 95 years of monthly data without
gaps (1893-1988) on opposite sides of the North Atlantic basin. We
suggest that we can identify the signature of the Great Salinity
Anomaly (GSA) and North Atlantic Oscillation (NAO) in the MSL
data. Most of the energy in the anti symmetric {{{"}seesaw{"}}}
mode is in the interdecadal band, with peaks around periods of 3,
5-6, 14, 17-19, 28 and 57 years. These results were compared with
those obtained from long series of other climatic indices and
recent model results obtained by other authors.",
