abstract = "The intent of this paper is to present the hypothesis that the
influence of sea surface temperature (SST) on rainfall in the
Brazilian Amazon Basin is largely through is influence on onset
and end of the rainy season, rather than on rain rates during the
rainy season itself. This work utilizes rainfall data from 431
stations in the Brazilian Amazon Basin, averaged onto a 2.5 degree
grid. The analysis is from 1977 to 1996.",
