             abstract = "As esta{\c{c}}{\~o}es autom{\'a}ticas do Projeto ABRACOS. 
                         instaladas na Amaz{\^o}nia Ocidental fornecem os dados 
                         hor{\'a}rios de precipita{\c{c}}{\~a}o em {\'a}reas de 
                         pastagem e floresta, durante o trimestre mais chuvoso (j/f/m) no 
                         per{\'{\i}}odo de 1992 a 1995. A variabilidade di{\'a}ria de 
                         precipita{\c{c}}{\~a}o maior que 1 mm h-I mostrou uma 
                         freq{\"u}{\^e}ncia relativa de 6,7% dos casos {\`a}s 14 horas 
                         local (hl) na pastagem e 5,7% {\`a}s 16 hl na floresta. O 
                         per{\'{\i}}odo da tarde (13-18 hl) registra acima de 30{"}/0 dos 
                         eventos de precipita{\c{c}}{\~a}o em ambos os s{\'{\i}}tios. 
                         H{\'a} uma boa regularidade na distribui{\c{c}}{\~a}o 
                         hol({\'{\I}}ria dos eventos, principalmente na floresta. Pala as 
                         precipita{\c{c}}{\~o}es maiores que 10 mm h.l, existe uma 
                         concentra{\c{c}}{\~a}o dos casos no final da tarde. Na pastagem 
                         12,3%, e na floresta 11,5% dos eventos ocorrem {\`a}s 18 hl. O 
                         intervalo entre 7-18 hl det{\'e}m 64,9% dos casos na pastagem, e 
                         57,7% na floresta. Do total de eventos de 
                         precipita{\c{c}}{\~a}o, 14% s{\~a}o maiores que 10 mm h.l, 
                         tanto na floresta como na pastagem. Comparando-se o total de chuva 
                         ocorrido nas {\'a}reas de floresta e pastagem, o volume 
                         precipitado na floresta {\'e} cerca de 28% em m{\'e}dia superior 
                         ao da pastagem. ABSTRACT: Measurements of hourly rainfall were 
                         made with an automatic weather station in ABRACOS Project sites of 
                         pasture and forest in the Amazonia rainforest between 1992-1995 in 
                         the rainy season (an/feb/nur). Daily variability of rainfall 
                         higher than lmm h'r showed a relative frequency of 6.1% at 14 
                         local timc (LT) on thc pasturc sitc, and 5.'7To at 16 LI to thc
