                         transdisciplinary study and research area that consists of the 
                         integration of concepts, methods and tools used for modeling, 
                         simulation, automatization and management of processes and of 
                         their application to solve business process problems originated 
                         mainly from the service and industrial areas. This work proposes a 
                         practical approach for conducting a Design and Process Science 
                         study applied to a problem of the spatial area, based on the use 
                         of Unified Conceptual Modeling and of the joint application of 
                         simulation and business process management tools in the 
                         development of the complete model life cycle. The potentialities 
                         of the approach are demonstrated by its use on a real case study, 
                         the Integration and Testing Laboratory (LIT) of the National Space 
                         Research Institute (INPE), Brazil.",
