n{\'{\i}}vel de 600 hPa no Oceano Atl{\^a}ntico tropical
Outubro e Novembro (SON)]. As an{\'a}lises foram feitas
a 1000 km.
Atl{\^a}ntico Tropical norte.
ABSTRACT: Analysis of the
seasonal climatology of Easterly Waves (EW) in the 600 hPa in the
equatorial Atlantic Ocean showed that the most significant results
occurs during the [June, July and August (JJA) and September,
October and November (SON)] periods. The analysis was done using
the ECMWF (ERA -INTERIM 1989 to 2008) data and a tracking
algorithm. To identify these waves it was assumed that the EW
centers of relative vorticity are greater than or equal to
0.5x10-5s -1, their time life are more than two days, and the
systems should have a displacement exceeding 1000 km. The results
show that the EW are more intense during JJA and SON in the
confined region between 6°N-16°N. The highest peaks are observed
on the Tropical Atlantic Ocean. Another peak observed on the coast
of Africa can be explained by the fact that many of the Easterly
Waves dont reach amplitude enough to be detected until they reach
the coast, and also because the scheme of tracking waves exclude
weaker and more disorganized systems.",
