             abstract = "This work describes the methodology for cloud cover assessment by 
                         using digital images collected at ground in Florianopolis (27º 
                         28S, 048º 29W) by low-cost Charge Coupled Device (CCD) digital 
                         camera. The images were obtained with resolution of 600X600 pixels 
                         in the JPEG format (Joint Photographic Expert Group in the RGB 
                         (Red, Green, Blue) color system and then converted to the IHS 
                         (Intensity, Hue, Saturation) system before processing. The 
                         analysis employed the saturation (S) to infer the level of 
                         contamination of the pixels by clouds and thus to obtain the cloud 
                         fractions.",
