abstract = "This work aims at presenting the performance comparison between
two techniques used to obtain estimates of surface solar flux in
the Southeastern region of Brazil: Kriging interpolation and
radiative transfer model. The ground data was acquired in 39
Automatic Weather Stations (AWS). The model BRASIL-SR provided
solar estimates using satellite data and {"}Two-Stream{"} approach
to solve radiative transfer equation in atmosphere. The BIAS and
RMSE values were calculated for 5 AWS sites in order to evaluate
the reliability of both techniques. The Krigging interpolation
presented better results for only one site: Votuporanga (SP).
Estimates provided by radiative transfer model showed lower
deviations in the other four AWS sites: Cachoeira Paulista(SP),
Andrequic{\'e} (MG), Itajub{\'a} (MG), and Montes Claros (MG).",
