abstract = "Water composition is a fundamental aspect on the understanding of
the dynamic processes in floodplain ecosystems. Thus, spectral and
limnological measurements were carried out in lakes and river
channel of the Upper Paran{\'a} River Floodplain lakes so as to
understand the connections between optical properties (water
colour) and limnological properties as a support for satellite
remote sensing. The sampling was carried out in 17 sampling
stations where concurrently measurements of the bidirectional
reflectance factor and limnological variables were obtained.
Spectral similarity analyses allowed to classify the reflectance
spectra into two distinct groups: 1) dominated by inorganic
material; 2) dominated by chlorophyll-a. The correlation between
spectral and limnological data enhanced the capacity of analysis
of water bodies spectral behavior. The small number of samples,
however, prevented the development of statistical models.",
