abstract = "Abstract. The present work describes the steps towards the
creation of a map about recommended use of the land (by
manipulating data in the Geographic Information system SPRING 3.4)
of the basin of the Bom Jardim creek, main affluent on the left
margin of the Uberabinha river. Such land comprehends an area of
396.54 km2 and is located in the cities of Uberaba and Uberlandia,
in the region called Triangulo Mineiro, state of Minas Gerais. The
SPRING 3.5 manipulation, analysis and letter generation functions
used in this work showed to be efficient for the treatment, the
crossing, the overpositioning, the classification, and the final
presentation of the map. Therefore, the tendency for the land
exploration needs to be reviewed, considering that the current use
of the land in that area may threaten the agricultural
sustainability of the basin. So, it is recommended that a politic
of consciousness and stimulus to the preservation of the areas
affected by the hydromorphism.",
