             abstract = "This paper describes the steps to elaborate land units maps with 
                         values for nature-based tourism attractions in the area around 
                         Capit{\'o}lio (Minas Gerais - Brazil). These products were made 
                         by GIS (SPRING system) and remotely sensed data and will be very 
                         important to help a local ecotourism planning. In the definition 
                         of the land units as the basis for mapping the interesting 
                         landscape attributes concerning ecological tourism, the 
                         methodology follows classic concepts of land planning, including 
                         geology, geomorphology, soil and land cover, plus some {"}ad 
                         hoc{"} attributes such as aesthetical values and the presence of 
                         special points of interest such as waterfalls, canyons, etc. The 
                         products can be described as beyond the classic concept of maps, 
                         in the sense that the cartographic representation are associated 
                         with a data bank where one can consult on collections, groups, 
                         related field images, geological history of special places, links 
                         to URLīs related to a specific attribute. One could call this type 
                         of maps as pertaining to the class of {"}hyper maps{"}, following 
                         the concept of {"}hyper texts{"} This is a significant improvement 
                         for land planning and management.",
