%X Atmospheric influence on electromagnetic radiation is a severe obstacle to remote sensing. Analysis and interpretation of aerial images are difficult due to the different effects caused by atmospheric scattering, absorption and weather conditions. The atmosphere has an influence on the measured signal and can drastically alter the spectral nature of the radiation at-sensor level. Those atmospheric effects must therefore be eliminated before any analysis. This work presents a new method for atmospheric scattering and absorption effects reduction, which is based on the radiometric and colors properties of dark and clear features. This method, besides reducing the atmospheric effects, promotes a significant enhance of contrast among the features in the image, making the analysis and interpretation process of spectral images easier.
