rela{\c{c}}{\~a}o inversa com a das Guianas. Al{\'e}m disso,
                         observou-se uma correla{\c{c}}{\~a}o direta da

Venezuela e Col{\^o}mbia. ABSTRACT: The spatial distribution of
the deviations from the normal precipitation over tropical South
America was investigated using the available data since the
beginning of the century. The spatial scale associated with these
deviations was established based on dry and wet years for
Northeastern Brazil. It was found that, on the average, the NE
drought spatial scale is not confined to that region but extends
from 35°W up to 65ºW of longitude. The results show that there is
an inverse relationship between the NE Brazil and Guyanas
rainfall, in accordance with previous results. Also it was, found
a direct relationship between the NE rainfall and that of Colombia
                         and Venezuela region.",
